Summit Lakewalk Trail Complete

Summit Lakewalk Trail Complete

Monday, June 13, 2016

On Saturday June 4, 2016, nearly two dozen volunteers pitched in to uncover a beautiful nature walk which can be enjoyed by all who live at The Summit. For over a decade there has been a wonderful trail along the eastern edge of the lake. As the years rolled by more and more people were heard to ask “What about finishing the trail?” or “When will we be able to walk all the way around the lake?” It seemed there was a shared vision for an expansion of the existing path.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of Larry Ferguson and The Summit grounds crew and many Summit Citizens, some of whom are also members of the Natural Bridge Appalachian Trail Club, and have hiked the “AT”, a beautiful and softly cushioned walkway now follows the edge of Summit Lake in its entirety.

The Summit Lake and Lake Walk Trail are private and available for Summit Citizens and their guests as well as Summit Advantage Club Members. Stay tuned for details on a dedication ceremony and celebration marking the Summit Lakewalk as a complete loop around the 8.5 acre lake, with benches from which to enjoy the natural beauty in every season.
