Dear Summit Residents, Families and Friends,
Thank you for supporting our efforts to keep all residents and employees safe during this difficult period of Coronavirus uncertainty. We do not have COVID-19 on our campus at this time, but as an additional precaution, we have taken the following steps to prevent it entering our community.
AS OF SATURDAY, MARCH 14, 2020
As of March 14, in order to protect our residents and in compliance with recent guidance from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) NO VISITORS will be permitted into our Long Term Care, Short-Term Rehabilitation or Assisted Living communities except for care situations related to end-of-life care.
We suggest that family and friends do not visit The Summit Independent Living. Out of an abundance of caution, we suggest limiting visitors to our building unless absolutely necessary. Critical or medical reasons may be the exception.
- We have posted signs on our entryway doors to notify visitors of this policy and actively screening individuals, including staff, who need to come into the building.
- Children under the age of 18 are not permitted to visit.
- Anyone with flu-like symptoms should not visit our campus and will be denied access.
- Visits by Summit Advantage Club members are suspended until further notice.
- On campus events and activities are being cancelled, postponed or restructured on a case by case basis.
- Dining Rooms campus-wide have been closed and meal delivery has been initiated.
The Summit is following the recommendations of the CDC on prevention steps, including following strict handwashing procedures, and in many circumstances, wearing gowns and gloves when interacting with residents who present symptoms. We also are staying up to date with the CDC recommendations as they may continue to change.
In addition, The Summit and CENTRA Leadership are in close contact with the local and state health department, and we are following their guidance.
For additional information, please visit the CDC’s COVID-19 information page.
For additional information in our region, please visit Centra’s COVID-19 information page.
We continue to hope that this period of restriction will be brief. Please understand that our goal is to keep all of our residents and employees as healthy as possible. We need your help to do this. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
